Choose the brush according to the pipe diameter
A brush with the same diameter as the pipe touches the entire inside and removes the soot in one pass. For flue pipes in Ø80, an 80 mm cleaning brush is used, and the nylon brushes protect the pipe's lacquered surface. If the pellet stove is connected to an older chimney with a larger diameter, the chimney is cleaned with a cleaning brush of 100 to 250 mm, so the brush fills the wider channel.
The cable must be long enough to reach the entire run, and an extra cable of 3 metres extends the reach. The small brushes from 10 to 60 mm are intended for the stove's own flue channels and heat exchanger, and more equipment for internal cleaning of the stove can be found under cleaning and maintenance.
How to clean the run
Clean only when the stove is switched off, cold and disconnected from the power supply. Start at a cleaning hatch or at the lower bend, and move the brush back and forth through the pipe. Soot and ash collect especially in the turns, so flue pipe with bend requires a few more passes than straight flue pipes, where the brush glides through easily. If you have dismantled the pipe along the way, check joints and gaskets before reassembling it, and replace any worn ones with parts from flue pipe accessories. Cleaning is part of the maintenance of the entire flue up to the chimney, which is covered on the page about Flue pipe Ø 80 mm. If you also need new pipes, they are available under flue pipes for pellet stoves.
